Saar-Hartmetall USA offers a huge selection of tube- and pipe OD-scarfing inserts. Our very popular ¾” SDUN inserts (or series 63) are different from the typical standard inserts offered by our competitors and are extremely popular with the mill operators.

Saar-Hartmetall’s tube scarfing inserts come as solid inserts without a centerhole giving the inserts a better structural integrity and hence, a better tool life! The inserts are clamped to the tool holder with a solid, wear-resistant carbide clamp. The clamping system allows for a very quick release of the insert and allowing a quick insert change. No more breaking of the insert due to a worn screw head. Our inserts go about 25% longer than comparable scarfing inserts found in today’s marketplace!
Available uncoated, TiN coated, TiAl coated and with either a 15 degree cutting angle for carbon steel and uncoated materials or a 30 degree rake angle for aluminized and coated materials to minimize the effect of material build-up.

SOMW OD-Scarfing Inserts (Series 86)

The indexable 4-sided 1” SOMW OD-scarfing inserts (Series 86) from Saar-Hartmetall are best suited for heavy wall tubes and pipes. The inserts are bolted to the tool holder with a flat head cap screw. Available in various radii and either uncoated, multi-layer TiN coated or coated with a ceramic multilayer TiAl coating these scarfing inserts can take a beating!
