Reception test:
To safeguard a constant high level of quality we have to check permanently
our raw materials.
So we check first of all:
- The grain size, the grain shape, the grain distribution
- the chemical composition, especially the oxygen content
- the bulk density and the tap density (DIN ISO 3953)
|

Manufacture:
To make optimal use of the raw materials, the alloyed powders are filled
into special metal moulds and are compacted by means of the hot pressing
process into near net shape blanks.
|

Grain size of the powder < 512 µm

HIP-procedure:
The mutual bonding of the powder particles as well as their adhesion with
the different materials (PM-steel/cemented carbide, PM-steel/Stellites,
PM-steel/superalloy) is achieved through the solid state diffusion bonding
during the HIP-procedure (1100°C – 1200°C, 1000 bar).
After sintering under pressure the adhesion between the different materials
is checked with an ultra sonic testing machine

 |
The simultaneous sintering and recompaction of the bodies in an HIP-press
enables the production of flawless and isotropic components in one production
step. This is an obvious advantage over conventionally made PM-material
(sintering and subsequent transformation) which in many cases must be
transformed to reach approximately the theoretical density and which in
a following step may be heat treated. Despite all these additional procedures
there may still be traces of a structural deformation, which does not
occur in materials made via the HIP-process. Moreover the HIP-process
excludes any oxidation of the surfaces which can occur when parts are
transformed in contact with the air. |
